Annotation: Molecular biology graduates are well prepared for an independent and creative scientific work and related activities associated with biological research at the molecular level, development and education. The students are trained to be proficient in diverse research and scientific methods, to gain experience in the work with genetically modified living systems at different levels of organization. The students are exposed to conditions enabling to master the specific terminology, including the possibilities to participate in international scholarships and exchange stays at foreign universities and research institutions. Molecular biologists are competent to implement up-to-date scientific and technical approaches and procedures using modern computer operating systems. Graduates have the appropriate dispositions to succeed in national as well as international labor markets.

 

Employability: Molecular biologists may be employed by a broad variety of institutions with a biological or chemical background, including research institutes, education, health services, agriculture and forestry, food industry, environmental protection, etc. Graduates have also great chances to find job opportunities in administrative organizations as well as national or international private research and technology companies.

Annotation: Food technology graduates are well prepared for an independent and creative scientific work and related activities associated with the agrofood research, development and education. They are familiar with diverse methods of research, development and technological procedures related to the production of safe and healthy food products as well as the possibilities of a broader (non-food related) use (recovery) of agricultural products and raw materials. The PhD studies are creating ideal conditions for the students to master the specific terminology in Slovak language as well as foreign languages with the possibilities to take advantage of diverse international fellowships at foreign universities and research institutions. Hence, Food technology graduates have the appropriate predispositions to succeed in national as well as international labor markets.

 

Employability: Food technologists may be employed as research scientists or fellows at research institutes or universities with the possibility of further professional growth. Graduates may become independent research assistants in agrofood enterprises, industrial companies as well as national or international consulting firms.

ADMISSION PROCEDURES

Candidates must have a Master degree obtained from a compatible or similar study programme. The admission interview serves for the candidates to prove their knowledge from their respective area of expertise via an oral exam, coupled with a foreign language examination via a written test. Scientific activities from undergraduate and graduate studies (participation at student conferences, publications, etc.) will be strongly taken into consideration.
